Alternate Title: Things You Need to Know as You Leave for Your First Dance
-You look so much cooler than I did at my 6th grade dance. You are also more sure of who you are in ways that I never was.
-Have fun. Hang with your friends.
-You may not be interested in dancing with anyone. That's cool.
-Or...maybe you are, but no one asks you. No biggie. There is plenty of time for that. Enjoy the party.
-Don't do anything you are not comfortable with. Not just tonight, but throughout your life. You set the pace for your own body (dancing, kissing, etc.)
-Just cause someone asks you to dance doesn't mean you have to.
-Be kind, even if you say no.
-Make good choices!
-I want to hear all about it.

Just so you know...
* You were much cooler than I was in the sixth grade.
* You rocked the '80's look, even if retrospect isn't kind.
* I believe you were in charge of yourself, even if you didn't feel so at the time.
* I wish I had had your confidence as a young person.
* You had your father's abruptness, which I am happy to say you have under control now. (re: "be nice to everyone")
