Return

The last week has been at the beach. It was glorious. It was exhausting. It makes me long for a child-free vacation. I both dread and long for a return to work tomorrow. A return to normalcy, some sort of routine. A cup of coffee that I can drink for five minutes without having to interrupt to fix someone breakfast or quiet a screaming banshee baby. But the beach, it was good.

It was good to see Aunts and Uncles and Cousins that we don't get to see often enough. I wish that I could spend some real quality time with my cousins - sans kids - just to visit. That is not likely to happen in the next 18 years or so...or maybe for at least 10 years: until the babies can get old enough to realize that when mom and dad aren't paying attention, they can get into all kinds of trouble with the help of their cousins!

Lauren, especially, wanted to spend the entire week in the pool. She and Tucker are at pretty good travelling ages. Merritt...not so much. Merritt is a screamer and a momma's baby. That is not such a good combo when you are living in close proximity with other relatives (add to that just being out of her element). She screams & there is pretty much no solution but for mama. This too shall pass.
