Oh! You Better Watch Out

We have had a good Thanskgiving weekend thus far. Lauren spent the first part of the week at Nanny & Granddaddys, where they had lots of adventures. Tucker and I met her over there on Wednesday and got to wake up Thursday morning and watch the parade on TV before having a wonderful midday meal with Nanny, Granddaddy, Uncle Craig and Granddaddy Bob.

L, T and I then trucked back over the river and through the woods to Pa's house, with my special-recipie macaroni and cheese in hand. After another wonderful holiday meal and some cousin time, we came home and crashed with Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (first I had heard of that one. It's no Great Pumpkin)

We have a lot of things to be Thankful for this year!!

Here's our new Christmas tree...it seems HUGE compared to our old one!!
And this was at 5:00 this evening. She didn't wake up when I moved her to her bed...
And, you may remember from last year, our elf, Chocolate Milk. He watches to see who's being good and bad and reports it back to Santa each night. Santa must have sensed that I put the tree together last night, cause this morning when we woke up, Lauren spied Chocolate Milk on the top of the tree!!

Goodbye Old Friend

Its been a good run, Pippi.

For the first time in two plus years, Tucker has gone to bed (night time) with out his trusted Pippi.

Yesterday...little did he know that it was the last night of the "Pip."

Success!

With little fanfare or complaint, Tucker is sleeping without his pippi. He asked several times "Where'd Pippi go?" and I'd say, "Pippi's gone." "Where'd you put it?" he'd ask...I am avoiding that one. I have saved the pippis, just in case of emergency. Hopefully, we won't need them. Frankly, I think it was harder on me than it was on him. Tucker is really growing up & is not a baby anymore

But! It was time. When the child is old enough to...

-remind me on a daily basis that "I am big boy, strong!"

-tell me "put my Pippi up"

-not only recognize the colors of the pippis, but to have a preference, and request a particular color

-tell me "you need to clean this Pippi" (and that was accurate)

...then I think it is high time to break the habit. We will save hard core potty training for Christmas break (maybe)!!

(L)Only Child

Tucker is enjoying the perks and pitfalls of being an only child tonight. Lauren's school is out this week, so Nanny and Granddaddy came over and picked her up for a few days of spoiling in MS. Tucker sobbed as she was leaving, wanting to "get in Nanny's car..." But he quickly perked up as we got inside, watched some Dora, and took a bubble bath.

Now, ahhhh....the house is quiet. I will be missing the hubub in the morning and tomorrow evening, but it sure is nice to have a few minutes of peace. Tucker and I will venture to Columbus Wednesday evening to retrieve Lauren and to get some turkey before heading back to T-Town for our festivities on Thanksgiving evening. Hopefully, more to post this week!

We Like To Move It, Move It

We took advantage of the Thanksgiving spirit this weekend at the local theatre...they were having a "bring a can of food and get in free" to the matinee. So, Tucker got to see his first movie in the theatre...Madagascar 2!! He did great through most of the movie and pretty good through the rest. And, in a shrewd move of cross-promotional genius, McDonald's just *happened* to be featuring Madagascar (2) toys in their Happy Meals...who knew?? The kids were so thoroughly impressed.

In which I post about our Weekend...

Ah, what a good weekend it has been. Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to attach a video of Lauren singing Indigo Girls at my mom's house--complete with giggling Tucker jumping on the bed in the background. The weekend, of course started out with Tricks-or-Treats.

The cutest Dorothy and Scarecrow (Scary-crow, per Tucker) there was...
And with Tinkerbell, aka Sarah

Saturday morning we took in the Homecoming Parade, again with Sarah...I *thought* that maybe Lauren was working through her fear of Big Al. But, not so much. She spent the majority of the parade behind me begging to go home while Tucker shouted "Roll Tide" to all the Homecoming Queens.

Cute and (becoming) caffenated...

No pics from the rest of the weekend. Tucker got a much needed haircut on Saturday, and we have mostly survived the time change/longest day of the year. We left after church and headed to Columbus so Lauren and Tucker could be entertained by Nanny and Granddaddy. A pretty good plan if I do say so myself. Although, Lauren has somehow gotten old enough to avoid falling asleep in the car (although she needed and wanted to).

A bonus pic of Tucker...for a couple of weeks he insisted that he was dressing as a Bat for Halloween (despite the Scary-crow plan). Fortunately, Old Navy put their costumes on sale early. He got to be a bat for his school party. What a dude.
