Ladybug Picnic

Today is a glorious fall day.

Instead of raging anger this morning, I chose consistent and distant discipline. I prayed hard for patience in church. Tears flowed, but forgiveness (mine) was given and the day moved on. And this afternoon, instead of staying in the house loafing, everyone loaded up and went to the Field of Dreams. Our school/community playground is actually named The Field of Dreams. How cool is that? It was great. Lauren made a friend, so she did not spend the entire time begging me to stay by her side. Merritt swung and slid happily.

And then we found the Ladybug Picnic. Dozens of ladybugs were hanging around one of the playsets. Too cool. This isn't the first time this has happened to us--Lauren holds the title for The Best Ladybug Catcher Ever--but it is so amazing when it happens. (And actually, another park we used to frequent is lovingly nicknamed "The Ladybug Park" b/c the first time we went there we found tons of ladybugs, but I digress.)

Good times, man.
